Doesn't sit so well for some reason...
This is weird. Like for instance the guy is left heartbroken after the girl left him. There should be some level of resentment that he wasn't enough for her in some ways. She leaves him for another, which readily appears to be much more awesome than the male character. This would leave the male broken in a lot of ways if they really cared for the other person.
I guess there's some understanding for the fact that if the girl was female, she hasn't really experienced too many things. And again I'm assuming this is a young relationship. When she doesn't really have a real scale to place good and bad on. But still, there's something unnerving with the male accepting her back into his life. There's gotta be a giant shot to his well being understanding that this would happen. And its one of those things that's almost impossible to heal unless he did the same to her at some point and came to the same reasoning.
I'll say decent job with the animation. Like it, music went well with it. Story and concept though, I pity the male character very much.
Too perfect looking
9/10 for now because you made me ponder what the rest of the series is about. i want to see it now. Please don't abandon it!
You know... I don't get it...
I will admit that after watching the other episodes that this one isnt as high grade as the later episodes, but I think you shouldnt necessarily remove it from newgrounds. I felt that this one was still pretty high grade for what we've seen come from you.
Keep this one still on here, i don't see any reason why you should remove it from newgrounds. Even if you did remake it. Other flash artist keep their original works up and its always nice to check back and forth to see the grounds crossed overtime.
Fun, few issues, but good game overall
I liked the game alot. I played through it in its entirety. Will say though it does seem to have a few things that quirk me with it. For instance, I like the sound of the gun, and the screen shake, but why doesn't Sergei's arm move with the torque of the shot?
A few other issues I had with it was that there were hangups where the game would zoom in on your character, and then no dialogue would initiate such as when you run into crew members.
I had a few issues with the actual play system, which was fun, but in all honesty was not the most challenging. I died on the last boss twice, only because I accidentally double tapped a direction to go in an ran off.
You did happen to place a few upgrade for weapons and such, but with exception to the 3 shot mode, there wasn't really a need to have the other clips laying around for the increased damage and increased rate of fire. It was a nice welcomed addition when I came across them, but I had already leveled up 15 times and was expecting more oomph for finding them.
Also, I didn't realize that you could hold down the spacebar to attack. For the first half of the game. Once I found out I didn't die. I'm wondering if maybe this game could stand to have a manual fire mode, then an autofire upgrade?
In terms of the suit upgrades I though the functions for them should of been dedicated to a another key beyond the movement ones. I found myself accidentally falling into goop and such when I accidentally double tapped.
Also, if you happen to make another one, and understanding this is a huge long programming issue in itself, I think it would be fun if you had actual mouse aiming in game. Right now the actual left to right aiming is nice, it sort of reminds me of an old NES game. But I'm thinking maybe you could use the aiming to your advantage to mess with lighting effect. Like the light was affixed to character's helmet area and he was just looking straight with it. If it were actually on the game, you would only have a cone of light. This could throw more horror and suspense in the game whenever you are in a dark room.
But other than that I will say this was actually really fun to play. Hope you come out with another. This kept me well entertained for over an hour.
I like the concept of this. Game play is a little bit odd for me for some reason. I think its because I keep accidentally buying ladders instead of swapping out weapons. The random city effect is nice, only problem I had was that I found Anna within the first 3 minutes of game play.
The idea of the mechanics for the game is nice, I sort of wish that the storyline was somewhat in depth. Also wish there was more of a soundtrack. The piano/violin song is good menu music, but drives me nuts trying to play through the game with it playing the entire time. Maybe if you replaced it with zombie grunts and maybe background noises and such. It would help build up the atmosphere. Overall nice job none the less.
Looks awesome, but
The round starts while you're still reading in the menus and briefing screens. Forces you to start playing. Which I suppose adds to the starkness of the situation, but in honesties is irritating as hell. I reccomend fixing it quickly and resubmitting it. Otherwise I think this actually has some decent potential beyond that.
Don't like it
Its way too catchy. My heads gonna be pounding this out wherever I go for the next day. Congrats. ;)
I'm only giving this a 7/10 because its a sample. I'll rate what's here a 5 though. You are teasing us so bad with this. And not trying to add pressure to you or anything, but I really hope the final version kicks ass. Keep up the fine work, hope you make it beyond here.
Nice song but...
Dude I feel like you did a great job on this song. Like I like it and all, but for some odd reason like it just sounds too chipper sounding for the topic it deals with. Like not saying you sound happy, just melodramatic more than anything. Otherwise I think its a great song. You just need some more feelings into the singing.
